Description
Alabaster and Wilson was a Birmingham -based company, established in the 19th century, which recently closed as the last family member retired. In the 1960s and 70s the company produced some very characteristic designs, usually in 9ct gold, and set with a colourful assortment of gem-stones, in this case pyrope and spessartite garnets. The brooch is hall-marked for 1968. We recently sold three characteristic A&W pieces to the Birmingham City Art Gallery for their permanent collection.
