Description

I am increasingly attracted to this period of jewellery: however, it must be individual, well-made, interestingly designed, and very importantly – by a known maker. Even with all these attributes, it still represents very good value for money, as it is still a somewhat specialised taste. Buy now whilst it remains so! This substantial leaf-inspired brooch, which can also be worn as a pendant, was made by George Weil, a London jeweller working in Hatton Garden in the 1960s, who subsequently turned solely to sculpture and went to live abroad. The reverse bears a plaques signed G.Weil – 18ct/pt. It is set with twelve marquise-cut diamonds of which I estimate the total weight is around 1.5 carats. Width: 3 1/8 inches:80mm
